Superior architecture, terrible cake. Off with their heads.

I have a lot to say about this cake. I was primed for it to be the best cake experience of my life - which means a lot. I'm not into cake - give me savory, cheesy, saucy, greasy over sugar any day. We went to the much revered Hotel Sacher, recommended by everyone. And here it is: the cake was dry. So dry. Vienna's architecture gets a ten; I was prepared to be non-plussed about the food. But I had high hopes for the cake. Marie Antoinette could not have had this cake in mind when she said her famous line (by that time she had moved to France, anyway). By the way, happy Bastille Day!

  1. I'm sad that the cake was disappointing, Marjie. But while you're in Vienna, be sure to try the sausages; I hear they're fabulous!
